CCCADI in partnership with Lincoln Center Out of Doors presents:
Presented in collaboration with Silvana Magda’s Lavagem de Rua (“the cleansing of streets”), the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute brought together artists representing countries of the diaspora including Brazil, Cuba, Trinidad, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and more. In this full night of performances, audiences enjoyed different roads of song, music, and dance travelled on the path to a joyful destiny.
Featuring: Gilson Menezes Santos Dorea (former lead singer of Araketo), Alexandre Cortes de Barros, a section of Baianas, members of the Afoxe of Filhas de Gandhy, drummers from Brazil, Something Positive from Trinidad, Legacy Circle from the Dominican Republic, Ashe Dance from Haiti, Amma McKen, and Grupo Oriefun from Cuba.
Lincoln Center Out of Doors is a yearly event that brings world-class music, dance, and spoken word to the plazas of Lincoln Center. CCCADI has had the honor to curate an African Diaspora weekend for over the past 10 years.
