Celebrate our 43rd anniversary with the launch of #AfroWaveSessions!
#AfroWaveSessions is a monthly concert series showcasing the Black cultural evolution with vanguard artists of the Global African Diaspora.
To kick off this month’s #AfroWaveSession April 25th, we are diving into one of the vibrant Afro-Dominican cultural scenes in New York. This experience will present some of the leading artists of The Bronx. This primetime, multi-sensory event will feature performances by MC Artist, Saso, who is making waves and shifting culture through his "Diaspora EP.” To accompany this sonic experience, there will also be an exclusive pop-up art installation by performance artist, Dada Coz, and a DJ set by Dos Flakos, who champion their "Sazon and Sandungueo" global movement.

"Saso" is a Dominican artist from The Bronx, New York who is bringing a niche sound and energy like no other. From growing up in both the Dominican Republic and New York, Saso brings his musical influences by mixing Brazilian Baile Funk, Jersey Club music and Trap while rapping in Spanish, English and Portuguese expressions. With his recent success of his project "Diaspora EP," Saso has been touring all across the country as well as internationally and is assured to bring his charisma, funk and revolutionary presence to every performance."
Meet Dada Coz
"Dada Coz" is a Bronx-bred Dominican performance artist, creative director, film director and founding member of the global radical collective BRUJAS, hailing from the New York City public school system, punk skate and graffiti scene. Going on a decade Dada continues serve her local arts community, presently as a certified fitness instructor and healer by day, and organizer of safe queer event spaces by night. All of Dada's work are rooted in self portrayed images of the autonomous brown female form, black and indigenous spirituality, and satirical anti-art. Dada's goal is to inspire queer femmes of color like herself by encouraging them to honor their journey, challenge themselves, and always remembering to breathe."
As an independent artist and core founder of the collective BRUJAS, Dada has collaborated with organizations and institutions such as The Museum of Natural History, Mass Appeal, El Museo Del Barrio, PS1MoMA, The Bronx Museum, The Bronx Supreme Court, Sweet Water Dance and Yoga, Harold Hunter Foundation, and Stamford University.
Meet Dos Flakos
"Established in 2014. Chris and Rich aka "Dos Flakos " two Dominican Bronx natives are bridging the gap between The Hood & The Rave scene. Using their Latin Caribbean roots and infusing Global sounds, Dos Flakos are pushing boundaries past the norms and expectations of Dance music in The Bronx. Supported by the likes of Anna Lunoe, Nina Las Vegas, DJ Sydney Sousa, Venus X and more. The sound and brand of Dos Flakos' "Sazon and Sandungueo" has reached popularity from Mexico, Brazil and the UK, to name a few, providing the audience with a vast amount of musical genres from Dembow, Reggaeton, Merengue, Afrobeats, Soca, Dutch House, Jersey Club, Baile Funk, UK Garage & More."
