SOLSTICE SOUL TRAIN in collaboration with Uptown Grand Central - NHEMA
Holiday market and live music by Kumbakín at CCCADI
On the night of the Winter Solstice -- the longest, darkest night of the year -- join us along East 125th Street for Solstice Soul Train, the Uptown version of Make Music New York Winter.
Hey family! Come party with us this Friday, December 21, during SOLSTICE SOUL TRAIN — when we’ll celebrate light and music along East 125th Street on the Winter Solstice, the longest, darkest night of the year. We’ll have:
⭐️ LIVE MUSICIANS & MARCHING BANDS from Fifth to Lexington avenues, including Jainardo Batista y Kumbakin @jainardobatista here on the CCCADI sidewalk!
⭐️ HOLIDAY MARKET here inside the firehouse. Vendors include Ballast Botanicals (herbal medicine), Ojala Threads (baby apparel), Rebel Orisha (jewelry), Coquito Maker and Eternile (body products).
⭐️ SHINE-IN-THE-DARK ART in our window created by artist LadyK @ladykfever and the families that joined us at this past Saturday’s SouSou. Turn your flash ON whenever you spot a camera icon on a gate or storefront, take a pic, then watch our community-made art pop!
⭐️ FREE HOLIDAY PIES when you visit three East 125th small businesses! Pick up a coupon card here at the store or at the 125th Street community plaza, get it punched at three participating stores, then head back to the plaza to collect your free sweet potato, bean or vegan apple pie. Pies are provided thanks to Potamkin Automotive and are while supplies last.
⭐️ SANTA PICS at the Second Avenue Subway Center.
IT'S GONNA BE LIT! Got a school or community group ready to help East 125th Street glow? We're looking for students, seniors, and any other community members who want to pitch in on our shine-in-the-dark community art project. Helping hands are needed for both making art and hanging it. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
