A monthly series remixing the “soapbox” Harlem tradition of street corner speakers “preaching” with spoken word.
Join us for the final installment of our SoapBox:Open Mic hosted and curated by Harlem native poet Momma-D!
For this event series, we remix the “soapbox” Harlem tradition of street corner speakers “preaching” to the community on the issues, topics, and concerns of the day with poetry. Community leaders from Hubert Harrison, Marcus Garvey, Malcom X, to A. Philip Randolph all were “soapbox” speakers.
