SouSou! Saturdays are monthly family-oriented programs held at the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute. Join us for our new 2019 fall season of SouSou! Saturdays. Our SouSou! Saturdays program was created to provide family visitors with not only fun cultural programs, but with intentional, high-level art experiences rooted in the beauty and richness of the African Diaspora.
We kick off our new season with Harvest SouSou! - Let’s Harvest Our Traditions! Saturday October 12th. The event celebrates the harvest celebrations of the African Diaspora with an interactive dance workshop, children's book fair, and more. *Activities for families with children ages 4-11.

Cultures around the world practice harvest celebrations. Annually, many African cultures honor ancestors, and the fruits of the harvest with ceremonial songs and dances. In particular, every year the Igbo, and Ewe people of West Africa celebrate the New Yam Festival. Come join us for a fun dance workshop inspired by this wonderful harvest season tradition!
FACE PAINTING & ART-MAKING STATIONS! - Second Floor Gallery B | 12:00 NOON - 3:30 PM
Diaspor’ Sabor! Make a fun foods artbook. Learn about different foods that have either their origin in Africa, and the Caribbean, or are used in the many familiar dishes found on our kitchen tables for example Mangú, Gumbo, Mofongo, Black-Eyed Peas, or Callaloo!
