HONOREE

Honoring
Dr. Marta Moreno Vega.

Dr. Marta Moreno Vega founded the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute in 1976. Five decades later, CCCADI is where sacred traditions are practiced rather than displayed, where artists are paid rather than thanked, and where a community keeps its own record.

She is honored at the AnniverSoirée alongside a slate of honorees whose work has shaped the cultural life of this city and the wider African Diaspora. The full slate will be announced ahead of the evening.

THE EVENING

Fifty years of cultural work, celebrated in the spirit of AfriCarnaval.

On April 28, 2027, the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute closes fifty years of cultural work with the AnniverSoirée at the Museum of the City of New York. The evening gathers artists, civic leaders, funders, and partners in the spirit of AfriCarnaval, the tradition that carries the Diaspora's history through masquerade, music, and procession, and treats celebration as a form of resistance rather than an escape from it.

Guests will honor Dr. Marta Moreno Vega, who founded CCCADI in 1976, alongside a slate of honorees whose work has shaped the cultural life of this city and the wider African Diaspora. The AnniverSoirée is the culmination of a year of programming across East Harlem and New York City, and the opening of what comes next: the Community Archiving Lab and Youth Pathways.

Partners who join this evening stand with an institution that has spent five decades making culture a tool for justice, and with the community that built it.
