ARTS EDUCATION 〰️

As part of CCCADI’s youth-centered work, we offer various arts education programs serving ages 2-24. Our arts education programs are designed to provide a comprehensive crossover learning environment to life paths anchored in African Diasporic traditions, art and culture, and interconnectivity with our elders.

Our praxis includes:

  • Art and Technology

  • Cultural Enhancement & Empowerment

  • Social Emotional Learning

  • Artivism: Youth Leadership and Action

Exhibition Resources

CCCADI exhibition education guides support visits to our exhibitions and digital exhibition viewing with youth of all ages. Each guide is an available resource for the exploration of the concepts and artwork featured in each exhibition. By pairing art and critical thinking in an engaging way for young individuals, these guides contribute to the development of well-rounded, culturally aware, and creative citizens.

Teaching Living Cultures

CCCADI’s Teaching Living Culture offers an array of arts education programs for PreK-12 students, Teaching Living Culture seeks to provide an effective way for students to supplement successful learning that is culturally responsive in or out of the classroom.

The CCCADI Youth Pathways program provides spaces and opportunities for Black and Brown youth to experience active community engagement and advocacy, cultural empowerment and enrichment, and a connection to a larger global movement. Our youth are leaders, and we seek to amplify their voices and vision for meaningful and impactful social change. Youth Pathways offers three avenues for cultural youth development: For the Culture, Sankofa Young Women’s Leadership Program and Sou Sou! Saturdays.

CCCADI’s For the Culture Program is a paid summer internship centered in artivism. This dynamic initiative is aimed at empowering young artists and activists in high school of ages 14 - 18 to explore the intersection of art and social justice.

Through this program, NYC youth embark on a transformative journey, honing their artistic skills while making a significant contribution to their communities at large.

Through after-school educational and interactive workshops, the Sankofa Young Women’s Leadership Program provides mentoring, master classes, internships, peer education, and guidance on project presentation for young Black and Brown women grades 9 - 12 in NYC.

SOUSOU!

SATURDAYS

A FAMILY-BASED ART EDUCATION PROGRAM

Inspired by the cooperative economic practices known throughout the African Diaspora by such names as "Colecta", "Box Hand", "San", "Partna", or "Sou-Sou". Sou Sou! Saturdays takes these financial resource-sharing traditions and invites families of all ages to participate in reinterpreting them as an exchange of cultural resources between various communities within the Diaspora through free workshops.
