CCCADI INTERNS OFFER MEANINGFUL SUPPORT IN VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONAL DEPARTMENTS

As a nonprofit cultural institution, CCCADI offers opportunities for artists, youth, community members and cultural workers to gain valuable skills. While we provide the space to support our community’s development, in those opportunities exist a mutual exchange. CCCADI gains just as much through those experiences as the participants. An example of this meaningful exchange is through our internship program.

Throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, a round of interns representing Fordham University, The City University of New York (CUNY), and Hunter College, among others, provided vital support within our programs, communications & new media, and arts education departments.

We are incredibly grateful to all of our interns for their ideas, contributions and hard work.

Meet the Interns

Paloma Dubois

Paloma is an incoming freshman at Yale who’s passion for preserving her cultural heritage is unceasing. She worked closely with our arts education team, helping to facilitate programs with the Sankofa Young Women’s Leadership 23-24 Cohort.

Idaly Hernandez

Idaly is a graduating senior at CUNY who worked closely with the communications& new media team to help capture many of CCCADI’s culturally enriching experiences. Idaly provided support during live productions as a camera operator and production assistant, during virtual productions as a production assistant, and during live event documentation as a camera operator and photographer. She was also involved in the pre-production process of many productions and events, and was the lead editor for one of our virtual programs. One of the highlights of her experience working with CCCADI was visiting and interviewing with Queen Mother Dowoti.

“The love, compassion, and commitment of everyone at CCCADI helped me grow as an individual and helped discover who I am and will strive to be.”

Kierstin Oliver

Kierstin is a graduating senior at Fordham University who worked on CCCADI communication projects promoting the organization. Kierstin helped to create social media content that uplifted the Diaspora and engaged the CCCADI community, while also marketing the organization's initiatives, highlighting archival content and current marketing material. Her work included drafting email campaigns and press releases within marketing and public relations systems. One of the highlights of working with CCCADI, she explains, is understanding the inner workings of museum life.

“CCCADI is a lovely environment for an artist like me. Indulging in the Diaspora through the arts is definitely one of CCCADI’s specialties and I would not trade in my experience working in such a fulfilling environment.”

Alyssa Friday

Alyssa is a freshman at Hunter College who worked with the arts education team, helping to facilitate programs with the Sankofa Young Women’s Leadership 23-24 Cohort. One of the highlights of her experience working with CCCADI was the penultimate SYWLP meeting and hearing Toni Blackman speak.

The CCCADI internship program offers undergraduate and graduate opportunities that expose students to all areas of the organizational operations. For more information contact, Tramaine Chelan’gat at tchelangat@cccadi.org
